OUR SAFEGUARDING DEFINITION

“Safeguarding is the action we as Leaders take to promote the welfare of our Children and Young People under the age of 18.

Each Young Person within ‘SPAC NXTION FXMILY’ is provided with an equal opportunity and access to Leadership who have been directly trained by the Global Head of Strategy, Pastor Tobi Adegboyega.


THE PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THIS POLICY STATEMENT

The purpose of this policy statement is to:

• Protect children and young people who are part of SPAC Nxtion Fxmily from harm. This includes the children of adults who attend any physical (location) services, community engagement events, partake in any of our affiliated business activities or are closely linked to any of our Nation Building Centre's (NBC’s).

• Provide our Leaders as well as children and young people and their families, with the overarching principles that guide our approach to child protection and keeping children safe.


OUR KEY PRINCIPLES

• Every leader within our organisation will understand what it means to ensure every child is kept safe, achieves their optimal potential and work in collaboration with others. We will continue to have the highest standard of care when it comes to our children and young people and operate on our models of practice as directed by our Central Strategic Team.

• Each child within SPAC Nxtion Fxmily, will have access to the best education and learning environment, a recreation atmosphere that helps each child to explore and experience the world around them, and conversations that encourage our children to dream further beyond their capacity.

• Each of our academies must follow the agreed model safeguarding policy for the area in which they operate.

• Safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility. Failure to ensure that all policies related to the protection of children are followed could result in disciplinary action.


LEGAL FRAMEWORK
This policy has been drawn up on the basis of Legislation, Policy and Guidance that seeks to protect Children in England & Wales.


WE RECOGNISE THAT

• The welfare of children is paramount in all the work we do and in all the decisions we take.
Working in partnership with children, young people, their parents, carers and other agencies is essential in promoting young people’s welfare.

• All children, regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation have an equal right to protection from all types of harm or abuse.

• Some children are additionally vulnerable because of the impact of previous experiences, their level of dependency, communication needs or other issues.

• Extra safeguards may be needed to keep children who are additionally vulnerable safe from abuse.


WE WILL SEEK TO KEEP OUR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE SAFE BY

• Valuing, listening to and respecting them.

• Appointing a nominated Head of Strategy for Safeguarding.

• Adopting child protection and safeguarding best practice through our policies, procedures and code of conduct for all our leaders.

• Providing effective management for our leaders through guidance, practical leadership support, training and quality assurance measures so that all leaders know about and follow our policies, procedures and behaviour codes confidently and competently.

• Developing and implementing an effective online safety policy and related procedures across all divisions of the organisation.

• Ensuring that all of our children are properly supervised.

• Thoroughly vetting any leader with responsibility of any of our NBC’s where there may be children.

• Recording and storing and using information professionally and securely, in line with data protection legislation and guidance.

• Making sure that our children, young people and their respective leaders know where to go for help if they have a concern.

• Using our procedures to manage any allegations against leadership appropriately.

• Ensuring that we have effective complaints and whistleblowing measures in place.

• Ensuring that we provide a safe physical environment for our children, young people, staff and leaders, by applying health and safety measures in accordance with the law and regulatory guidance.

• Building a safeguarding culture where all levels of leadership, our children and young people treat each other with respect and are comfortable about sharing concerns.
